Green and white variegated foliage has a silver stripe down the center of each blade. Dense spikes of violet-purple flowers bloom in summer and mature into spikes with dark berries, providing many seasons of interest. Plants are widely adaptable and tend to spread more slowly and do not cover as densely as the straight species. Cut back in early spring to promote new growth.
