Leeks are a large, upright, non-bulbous type of onion. Stems are long and thick and are grow into wide, flat leaves. When cooked, they provide a creamy texture, and are sweeter than onions. Leeks prefer well-drained soil and full sun. Best treated as an annual. Mild, delicate onion flavor.
