Large, deep-purple flower spikes persist for an extended period of time throughout summer and with deadheading will bloom sporadically into fall. The green leaves of May Night are larger and slightly shinier than the other Salvias but still have the same coarse texture. Salvias are easy to grow in average, well-drained soil and require little maintenance. Voted the 1997 Perennial Plant of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association.
