LYCHNIS coronaria

A short-lived species that self-sows readily so as to appear perennial in the garden. Silvery-green foliage is topped by masses of rose to magenta flowers in spring and summer. The foliage is somewhat unsightly after blooming and should be cut back to clean up the garden. The best location for this species is in full-sun with some mid-afternoon shade. Must be planted in a well-drained soil to overwinter successfully.
